Showroom Sessions: Sherman and Limanjaya
Join us for Showroom Sessions, a monthly series of curated electronic music. Hear some of the region's boldest voices in ambient, experimental, dance music, and more. Proudly presented by Patchwerks with generous support from the community. This month, we host the talents of Portland-based Limanjaya and local head Sherman.
Sherman / Selector Records on Capitol Hill in Seattle.
Sherman’s been dabbling with gear since around 1997, and after many years of trying out different pieces has settled on a couple Critter & Guitari Organelles running custom patches, running through a Memory Man (w/ Hazarai, of course) delay pedal, building bizarre polyrhythms that on occasion sound good. On the spot beats intricately twist around each other, get manipulated, finagled, and fade into more intricate grooves.
Sherman has releases on Telomere Plastic, iLLikoi, Basement Sounds, and new local label Basement State.
Limanjaya:
Joshua Limanjaya Lim is a modular synthesist and producer residing in Portland, OR. He uses sample flips, glitchy beat repeats, and infectious melodies to craft his sound. Whether he is performing ambient, hiphop, or house music, the goal is always to get people moving. His latest album, UNTITLED 2023, is out now on all streaming platforms.

But what's wrong with his nails???
With the very first chord I heard Pitbull - "Mr. Worldwideeeee"
I just got my first MORDAX DATA module, purchased new. Right away I noticed that the encoder has a lot of wobble and, more worryingly, when rotating it, it travels a bit before "catching" on. Is this normal or should I return my module in exchange for a different unit?
Great video! Informative. Helpful

Yamaha was killing it with VA synths in the 90s and got no respect.
7:44 is just, well, crazy, what a fucking beast
What was the point of the mixer in the intro? :D Anyway, bought one as good as new 2nd hand last week, got a nice 500€ discount. Even got the field pouch with it for free. Absolutely love it, already wrote 2 demos for my band. Ideal for the musician who has trouble dragging himself off the couch!
nice! can you change the tempo?
The rossum morpheus was the module that finally made me crack & get into eurorack, trying hard to not fall in to deep 🤦🏼 so many tempting modules out there its proving difficult 🙈
Hi ! Do you have a video where you explain how to record a synth pattern from a thru machine ? I am really struggling to make it work... much appreciated 🙏
I love using mine as a song starter
I like it! Any Iridiumusers here who own the M, why should i get one if you have an Iridium and an XT?
6:27 bro out here playing the most beautiful, thick, luscious bladerunner-type melody I've ever heard in my entire life
Both sets very interesting and enjoyable. Second dude got some proper rude sounds out of his synths, great stuff
human music plays
I love this thing!
this machine is really a very near copy of the original Electribe ea-1--- it just does not have (as of yet)... a song programming mode
Wooo Steven!
Elden ring jump scare LOL
And this have Power Button !!
IMPORTANT! YOU CAN ADJUST THE INCOMING SINGNAL WITH PAD 30 (ATTENUATOR) AFTER PRESSING THE SAMPLE REC BUTTON ON YOUR DEVICE. THAT WILL SOLVE THE PROBLEM.
Who else heard the boondocks intro?
I always get carried away using my K.O.
Most important module, i would not enjoy eurorack without it. Would seriously suggest everyone to get this as second module. (ok first you need at least something to watch on it.)
This would be such a godlike module if the touch sensitivity wasnt so utterly dogshit and all over the show
The screen look like a 2000 synth
The way bro say Mavis hahaha, sick video. Been playing with mines for past 6 hours straight
hepax dont have sounds inside ?
That parameter modulation is awesome 👏🏽
Best coverage of this for sure. I'm surprised at that I find myself attracted to this machine. Personally I've never really been a big fan of Rolland sounds other than drums, and it's more money than I wanted to spend even used, but I might have to bite the bullet and get one.
Wonderful!
really dig this!
Tell me you don't actually know synthesis without telling me you don't.
I just bought one 2nd hand from Reverb for £360. What a bargain!
I got a brand new one for 500
Ways to pronounce Digitakt: 1) With a soft G 2) With a hard G Ways to absolutely #€%$ing NEVER pronounce Digitakt: 1) DigiTACK For the love of…. I literally stopped watching this video because of that.
I don't know why there are not more vocoder modules, its my favourite to "mix"/vocode signals with warps.
Buncha lazy turds in these comments who probably never actually create anything. Go yell at some clouds.
I'm going to have to buy that! Seems like a perfect kind of synth to make some y2k/vaporwave/fusion weirdness.
That korg sounds amazing I’ve just bought a rd-6 drum machine never made dawless music before so really looking farward to it
Would you say a OT or DT is a nice addition to a Hapax? Or maybe an overkill and just get a somewhat more "normal" drummachine like a TR8s?
Amazing ❤❤❤
i think the dog was in the digitakt , lol
A positively delicious trio of modulations ya got there. Mmmmmmmmmm modulations.
that's really nice. Can't find a way to set output 1 as CV out and output 2 as gate though. anyone knows? thanks!
nevermind I rebooted te bitbox and it worked. I found out that the devices bugs a lot...
Can you use exp pedal to control mix?
Function Rec 3 to access sample buffer!!! I needed that !!! Ty EzBot!! I need the idiots guid to short cuts hehe. I be read the manual but now I see the application
I've just bought one of these at an auction, I'm excitedly waiting for it to arrive! Your video has been really helpful, thank you!
I just picked up one of these, and this set is pretty inspirational :) thanks.
Thank you for this, ive been looking for an example of the vocoding feature and your the only one I've found
